Denver Nordic Spa FAQ
General Questions
ROK is the only Denver Nordic spa with five cold plunges spanning 37°F to 55°F — the city’s widest temperature range — paired with Denver’s largest sauna (194°F, seats 40), a eucalyptus steam room, and warm thermal soaks. Everything you need for a full contrast therapy circuit is under one roof in Denver at Union Station. Walk-ins welcome. Mindbody named us 2025 Best Wellness Brand.
ROK SPAS brings an approachable yet luxurious Nordic bathhouse to Denver. Here, we draw directly from Swedish traditions to offer a full spectrum of wellness practices. Inside, you’ll find a custom-built sauna and steam room, along with cold plunges and thermal soaks. Together, these experiences help you rejuvenate, recover, and relax — in body and mind.
We offer four core services, and each one targets a different therapeutic benefit:
- Plunge — Step into our cold plunges to stimulate circulation and revitalize the body.
- Soak — Next, ease sore muscles and joints in our warm, mineral-rich thermal baths.
- Steam — Breathe deeper in our aromatic steam room, which clears the airways and calms the mind.
- Sweat — Finally, unwind in a traditional Swedish sauna that relieves stress, boosts circulation, and fosters communal bonding.
Together, these four practices form a complete contrast-therapy circuit.

Service Clarifications
The sauna uses 2 dry sauna heaters with electric heating elements which helps relieve stress and improve circulation. The room is heated to the maximum permitted temperature of 194 degrees on the top bench, while the two lower rows are designed to naturally decrease in temperature by about 10 degrees each. The room is kept very dry at between 15-25% humidity.
The steam room uses a 48 kw electric steam generator to maintain the room temperature between 110-125 degrees and nearly 100% humidity. This helps with detoxification, respiratory health, and overall relaxation.
Cold plunges can help reduce inflammation, boost circulation, speed up muscle recovery, and improve mental clarity. They are especially beneficial for athletes and individuals seeking enhanced recovery methods.
We recommend spending 10-15 minutes in the sauna or steam room, followed by a brief 1-3 minute dip in the cold plunge. You can repeat this cycle for maximum benefits, but always listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
Contrast therapy alternates exposure to hot and cold — typically a sauna round followed by a cold plunge — to boost circulation, speed muscle recovery, and sharpen mental focus. At ROK SPAS, we structure each visit around this Nordic ritual, so you can move fluidly between heat, cold, and rest in a single session.
While both orders have their place, most people get the deepest benefit from sauna first, plunge second. The sauna opens your circulation and warms the body, and the cold plunge then locks in the recovery effect by triggering a flush of fresh, oxygenated blood. After plunging, rest for a few minutes — then repeat the cycle two or three times for the full contrast benefit.
Denver’s largest. Our authentic Finnish-style cedar sauna heats to 194°F and seats 40 guests across three benches — the top bench at full temperature, the middle and lower benches stepping down by about 10°F each. The room is kept at 15–25% humidity for traditional dry-sauna conditions.
Wellness and Safety
Cold plunges are generally safe for healthy individuals. However, if you have certain medical conditions such as heart problems, respiratory issues, or circulatory disorders, please consult your doctor before using the cold plunge.
We recommend consulting your healthcare provider before using these facilities if you’re pregnant, as heat and cold exposure can affect pregnant women differently.
Yes, ROK SPAS is reserved exclusively for adults aged 18 and above to ensure a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
If you’re new to cold plunging, start in the 55–60°F range and stay in for just 30 to 60 seconds. As your tolerance builds, you can drop the temperature into the upper 40s and extend to two or three minutes. The goal isn’t to suffer; instead, focus on slow nasal breathing and step out the moment you feel calm and in control.

Plan 90 minutes for a complete contrast therapy circuit. That gives you time to move through two to four full rounds — heat, cold, rest, repeat — without rushing. First-time guests can do a shorter 60-minute session if they prefer; experienced plungers and members often stay 2 hours.
